The driving philosophy of the Clinical Research in Identity and Belief (CRIB) lab is to provide students and professionals an affirming, growth-oriented community to engage in the scientific process of research. In that, we try to “foster an environment of consistent scientific excellence and personal development that supports every lab member in reaching their full potential, and helps us have fun while doing great science.”

Our Story

CRIB Lab was first developed in the Fall of 2022 at Knox College in Galesburg, IL. Since then, the Lab has moved with Dr. Chris and supported the education and development of dozens of student researchers.

In CRIB, we are primarily interested in the ways minoritization, marginalization, and social bias impact health, education, and employment outcomes in people with minoritized social identities. Most specifically, the social identities that CRIB has historically invested in are minoritized religious identities (e.g., atheists, agnostics) and autistic identity. This is a very broad umbrella, but some common theories from which CRIB has operated include:
